It was a wonderful Friday seeing generations together at our Grandparents Day Lunch. So many sweet memories!
Many of you might be unsure of what PTA really is. PTA is part event organizing (like the Grandparents Day lunch), and part teacher/staff caretakers. But we're also advocates for students.
Texas PTA is on a mission to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. This is a deeply-held passion of mine.
PTA is responsible for the creation of birth certificates, kindergarten, school lunch program, teacher pay raises, school zone speed law, statewide safety standards for playgrounds, married women’s property rights bill, allowing jury service for women, and reducing the number of EOC exams to graduate.
Since 2025 is a legislative year, we will be sharing information on how you can help advocate for your student and public schools. See below for a chance to sign-up for a Katy ISD listening circle to help the District develop their legislative agenda. You get to tell the District what is most important to you. I have gone before and will go again this year. It's a very important first step in getting change accomplished!
