Are you curious about helping more with PTA events next year, but not quite sure? Here are answers to common questions:
- How much time involved? This depends on the role. Some are as little as a few hours total and can be done from home (chairs of Healthy Lifestyles, Spirit Nights, or Mother/Son, Mother/Daughter, & Father/Son events). Some involve more planning and work time often at school (chairs of Father/Daughter Dance, Carnival or Fun Run).
- What's the difference between a board-appointed position and a chair? Board-appointed roles help lead and support the chairs under them who are focused on individual events or responsibilities.
- Will I have any help? How do I know what to do? Every chair has a board member and/or an elected officer directly supporting them. And every board member has an elected officer directly supporting them. We also have lots of training on how our PTA functions and hand down all materials from the previous year. You will always have the entire board there to help with everything!
- I work full-time or have a young one at home. Can I still be involved? Yes, absolutely! While many events take place at school during school hours, there are just as many after hours.
- Is it worth my time? YES! We can only do all of these wonderful events with a team of volunteers. Make some new friends, get an inside look at RAE, and my favorite, see your child in their natural habitat during the day!
I have enjoyed every minute of my experience volunteering at RAE, from making copies, being a class reader, and sorting library books, to helping decorate and working at events. These years are short, but the memories you will make (and help make for the students) will last forever.
